Premier Eye Care Billing and Debt Collection Policy

At Premier Eye Care, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional eye care services while ensuring a transparent and fair billing process. We comply with the Minnesota Debt Fairness Act and strive to work collaboratively with our patients to resolve billing matters.

Billing Practices

  • Transparency: Patients will receive clear, itemized bills for all services provided.

  • Statements:

    • Patients with a balance due will receive a statement.

    • If payment is not received, a second statement will be sent.

    • After 60 days of non-payment, a $20 late fee will be applied to the account.

    • Accounts older than 90 days will be sent to a collection agency.

  • Payment Options:

    • We accept cash, credit cards, CareCredit, and flexible payment plans.

    • Insurance claims will be submitted on your behalf, and you will be notified of any balances not covered by insurance.


Debt Collection Practices

We handle all billing and debt collection matters respectfully and in compliance with state and federal laws:

  • Notification of Rights: Patients will be informed of their right to hire an attorney or contact the Minnesota Attorney General for assistance with medical debt.

  • Prohibited Practices:

    • Automated (robo-dialer) calls will not be used to collect debt.

    • Necessary medical services will not be withheld due to unpaid debt.

    • Third parties will not be contacted about your debt without consent.

  • Compliance with Laws: All debt collection activities comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Minnesota statutes.


Medical Debt and Credit Reporting

  • Medical debt will not be reported to credit reporting agencies, protecting your credit score.

  • Patients can dispute any errors in billing or coding. We provide a prompt resolution process for disputes.
